Last week's episode of The Middle finished a strong second in the adults 18-49 demo and a solid third overall in the ratings in its time slot.
"One Kid at a Time" was watched by 8.21 million people, down slightly from 8.39m the week before. The show ranked third in total viewers behind the return of Fox's American Idol and a rerun of CBS's NCIS. In the 18-49 demo, The Middle scored a 2.3/7 rating, down a notch from the previous episodes 2.4/7, to rank second behind Idol.
