The Middle to end with ninth season August 2 2017

The Middle to end with ninth season

ABC announced today that The Middle will end with its upcoming ninth season.

The Middle premiered in 2009 and has been a steady performer for ABC since. The show originally aired on Wednesday nights as part of a comedy block with Modern Family. In recent years, The Middle has led its own comedy block on Tuesday nights.

Discussing the end of the show, The Middle co-creators Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline said, "Last year we sat down with our cast and made the bittersweet decision together that in this ninth season it is time to bring the Hecks' story to a close. It's been an amazing run, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we're looking forward to having an entire year to say goodbye. Plus, we wanted to go out before too many people knew we were on the air."

The Middle was renewed for its ninth season back in January. The final season will begin Tuesday, October 3 at 8/7c on ABC.

Meanwhile, Sue begins to panic after she barely scrapes a parked SUV and doesn’t hear back from the owner after leaving several notes on the windshield, and Brick discovers that his sudden onset of backaches is due to not sitting in his lawn chair, which was replaced by a normal kitchen-table chair, on the season finale of “The Middle,” TUESDAY, MAY 16 (8:00-8:30 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network.

ABC has already renewed The Middle for a ninth season so the show will definitely be back for another year.
