Last night's season premiere of The Middle ranked a solid third place behind premieres of Fox's new reality show The X Factor and CBS's long-running reality series Survivor. The hour-long episode guest starred Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton's former co-star on the award winning CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
The third season premiere was watched by 9.74 million people and scored a 6.7/11 rating in households. In the important adults 18-49 demographic, The Middle scored a 3.1/9 rating.
Last night's episode equaled a series high in the key adults 18-49 demographic and scored series bests with Adults 18-43, Adults 25-54, Teens 12-17 and all key Women. The show built on last season's premiere in viewers by 9%, adding 800,000 viewers.
