The Middle was nominated for three Critics' Choice Television Awards by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association. The show received a nomination in the Best Comedy Series category, while stars Patricia Heaton and Eden Sher were nominated in the Best Actress in a Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series categories, respectively.
The Middle is up against Archer, The Big Bang Theory, Community, Glee, Louie, Modern Family, The Office, Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock. Modern Family is the lead contender with six nominations.
Patrica Heaton faces competition from Courtney Cox (Cougar Town), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope) and Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) in the Best Actress in a Comedy Series category. Eden Sher is nominated alongside Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Jane Krakowski (30 Rock), Jane Lynch (Glee), Busy Phillips (Cougar Town) and Sofia Vegara (Modern Family) in the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category.
The first Critics' Choice Television Awards ceremony is presented June 20 and will be streamed live on VH1.com. Highlights will air June 22 on the Reelz Channel. The event is a spin-off from the Critics' Choice Movie Awards and promises to be a more streamlined version of the Emmys.
