Last night's episode of The Middle, with special guest star Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond), finished a solid second behind Fox's American Idol.
The second season finale was watched by 7.43 million people and scored a 4.4/7 rating in households. "Back to Summer" achieved a 2.2/7 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic, though this was down slightly on last week's episode. The Middle finished second by all metrics.
