Last night's episode of The Middle finished a solid third in the ratings for its time slot, ranking behind Fox's American Idol and CBS's Survivor.
"Valentine's Day IV" was watched by 7.72 million people, down by almost half a million viewers from last weke's 8.21m audience. In the key adults 18-49 demographic, The Middle slipped from a 2.3/7 to a 1.9/6 rating.

Meanwhile, Brick becomes upset with Frankie when he discovers that she has thrown out all of the school artwork he has made over the years, Sue is thrilled when ex-boyfriend Matt invites her to the school's Valentine's Day dance, and Mike accidentally sends a romantic text meant for Frankie to a co-worker at the quarry.
